October can be a hot and sunny month across Cádiz, and is one of the best months for hiking. The restricted access trails through the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park re-open on October 15, making it the best time to visit. It’s also a busy month for kitesurfers in Tarifa and hang gliders in Algodonales. It’s also the month for strenuous triathlons – one of southern Spain’s major events being the Titán out of Zahara de la Sierra.
Christmas officially starts on November 25 with a busy itinerary of events in every town and village across the region to keep you festive until January 6 2017. Highlights are the living nativity scenes – the belenes vivientes, Christmas markets, and, in Jerez, the hundreds of drum-based exuberant flamenco get-togethers, the zambombas. Bodegas are busy also, as the setting for festive maridajes, and also doing good trade in fine sherries for end of year celebrations.
