Anyone resident in Andalucia – or anyone from Andalucia currently residing elsewhere, is urged to pick up a brush and enter a masterpiece for the Andaluz Painting Contest ‘Villa de Ubrique’. Any theme and any style goes – with the exception of digital art and painted glass, and each contestant can enter two works. The deadline is August 27. All entries will be exhibited in September and there’s €3000 and a silver plaque for the overall winner.
Be warned – or at least, challenged. Ubrique itself creates extraordinary artists, so the competition will be fierce. Last year’s winning entry (pictured) was Miedo al Miedo by Juan Jesús Lobato Moreno.
Finished, labeled works (accompanied by an entrance form) should be left between August 23-27 at the Convento de Capuchinos “Museo de la Piel” (Avda. Herrera Oria, s/n) between 11am-2pm and 6pm-8pm.
More information available from the Ubrique town hall. La Plaza, 1; T: 956 46 12 90.
