The flamenco spectacular that is Salvador Távora’s production of Carmen has been staged over 1000 times in 24 countries, and seen by a million applauding people. If, despite all this, you have still missed it, head to the Plaza de Toros in Sanlúcar where on July 9th Opera Andaluza de Cornetas y Tambores will be performing Carmen de Salvador Távora in the round. Expect marching drummers of course, as well as prancing horses, fiery passion, dance, cante, foot stamping, hand-clapping and the steamy simmering of revolution, followed by tragedy. And all this not far from where the whole business involving a flirtatious factory girl done wrong all began.
July 9, Plaza de Toros, Sanlucar. Starts 10pm; Also August 11, El Puerto de Santa María. Information and tickets via
