Yes! A cool, fresh, modern and airy restaurant beside the sea! Bar de Tapas y Restaurante El Embarcadero is part of the 4-star Hotel Duque de Nájera, perched on the shimmering Altantic coast. Its wide terrace overlooks the Bay of Cadiz and a muelle and harbour where fishermen are busy hauling in lunch.

Recommended highly in the Repsol and Michelin guides, the food is fresh and innovative – perfect Mediterranean summer fare. If I was there today, I’d go for the ensalada tradicional de aguacate y langostinos con salsa cocktail (9.50€), follow it with the lomo de atún de almadraba con gulas al ajillo y pimientos asados (17.75€), and, space allowing, end with the indulgent semifrio de mousse de chocolate negro sobre bizcocho napado con salsa de chocolate blanco (4.00€).
There are super-flexible dining options too, with plenty of tapas and raciónes to suit sharers, and it’s not all about fish either. But it’s the combination of healthy food with the light and arty setting that really makes this an essential choice for a lingering lunch or a long, relaxing evening.
